Cicely Hamilton

- Fair warning, this one is bleak: Theodore starts as a comfortable civil servant with nice taste in music, and you watch the war strip all that away until knowledge itself becomes taboo. If quiet, plausible collapse unsettles you in a good way, Hamilton delivers it without flinching.
- Hamilton starts by gently mocking William and Griselda, two earnest suburban agitators so busy with their pamphlets they honeymoon in the Ardennes in August 1914 without noticing the war, then the comedy stops cold and it becomes genuinely harrowing. Short, angry, and it stays with you.
