1 Buch
- You read this less for a clean history of philosophy than for its odd, lively human details: Socrates’ habits, Diogenes in his tub, Epicurus defending pleasure. Diogenes Laërtius is patchy and sometimes credulous, but the gossip, quotations, and biographical scraps make ancient thinkers feel startlingly near.
