E. R. Eddison
2 Bücher
- Eddison retells a Norse saga in prose that sounds carved rather than written, all doom and weather and pride, and Styrbiorn himself is a hothead you somehow ache for as his fate closes in. If archaic English annoys you, skip it; if it sings for you, this does too.
- You read this for the grand, old-fashioned music of Eddison’s prose, and for Lord Juss and his brothers facing Witchland with more courage than common sense. It’s ornate, episodic, and sometimes gloriously overblown, so you’ll want patience, but its feuds, feasts, duels, and fierce friendships linger.
