- You get a wonderfully strange Victorian thought experiment: an unnamed narrator stumbles into a subterranean civilization powered by the mysterious Vril, where women hold authority and humans look rather primitive. It’s chatty and idea-heavy, sometimes clumsy, but rewarding if you enjoy old science fiction with social satire under the surface.
