- Brion Brandd wins a planet-wide contest of body and mind, and his prize is being dragged to a desert world where fanatics are about to get everyone nuked. It's fast, pulpy sixties Harrison, a puzzle dressed as an adventure, and the empathy angle gives it a nice odd streak.
- These are Harrison's fast, funny magazine stories from the fifties, the kind where an exasperated repairman gets dumped on an alien planet to fix a broken beacon and just grumbles his way through it. Light, clever, zero pretension.
- Slippery Jim diGriz cracks safes and cons whole planets, then gets drafted by the cops who catch him, and half the fun is his cheerful running commentary on his own crimes. Breezy, fast, unashamedly pulpy; read it when you want a caper, not big ideas.
