Rabindranath Tagore

- These are short prose poems Tagore wrote as offerings to God, and they read like someone talking quietly to a friend, about waiting, boats, rain, flute music. Best taken one or two at a time before bed; if you rush it, the stillness that makes it work disappears.
- You get Tagore’s childhood as a series of vivid rooms and sensations: the servants’ strict household at Jorasanko, stolen glimpses of the outside world, and his early hunger for poetry. It’s fragmentary rather than comprehensive, but its inward, observant voice makes memory feel newly alive.
