Yung Wing
1 Buch
- Yung Wing crossed the Pacific in 1847, became Yale's first Chinese graduate, then spent decades trying to drag the Qing court toward reform, and he tells it all in stiff, courtly Victorian prose that somehow makes the story more moving. Slow in places, but the life underneath is remarkable.
