Resurrection Leo Tolstoy, traducido por Louise Maude
You follow Nekhlyudov as his comfortable life is unsettled by Maslova’s trial, then watch him confront the damage hidden inside respectable society. Tolstoy can be sermon-heavy here, but the prison scenes and Nekhlyudov’s uneasy moral awakening give the book a stern, searching force.
Shirley Charlotte Brontë
Slower and stranger than Jane Eyre, this one, but Shirley Keeldar herself is worth the wait: an heiress who runs her own estate and calls herself Captain Keeldar, half teasing, half serious. If you like Yorkshire moors, mill riots, and quiet, prickly friendships between women, settle in.
