Lady Chatterley’s Lover D. H. Lawrence
Forget the scandal, it's really about Connie coming back to life in that gamekeeper's hut while Clifford talks coal profits up at the house. Lawrence preaches a bit, he can't help it, but the tenderness is real and it lands if you let it.
Manhattan Transfer John Dos Passos
You have to be okay with drift here, since it jumps between dozens of lives (Ellen the actress, Jimmy the restless reporter, poor Bud fresh off the ferry) and never settles. But if you like cities more than plots, the noise of 1920s New York gets into you.
The Birds Aristophanes, traducido por The Athenian Society
The Birds Aristophanes
You get absurd political satire, shameless wordplay, and the wonderfully slippery Peisetairus, who talks a flock of birds into imagining a new city in the sky. It’s bawdy, strange, and occasionally more interested in a joke than a tidy plot, but the chorus and wild premise make it unusually vivid on the page.
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward H. P. Lovecraft
You get a slow, claustrophobic descent into family history, antiquarian obsession, and forbidden experiments, with Dr. Willett piecing together what happened to Charles Dexter Ward. Lovecraft’s prose can be stiff and purple, but the old letters, graveyard lore, and mounting sense of corruption make it rewarding if you like horror that creeps rather than lunges.
