- The Old English Baron EnglishGothic for people who like their ghosts polite: Edmund spends a night in the haunted east wing of Castle Lovel, doors groan, dreams hint, and virtue gets tidily rewarded. If you want terror, look elsewhere; if you want a cozy, orderly haunting, this is it.
- The School for Scandal EnglishGossip as blood sport, and Sheridan makes every barb land. The screen scene, where Lady Teazle's hiding spot collapses in front of everyone, is still genuinely funny after 250 years.
