Commentaries on the Gallic War Julius Caesar, tradotto da W. A. McDevitte, W. S. Bohn saggistica English
You’d enjoy this for its cool, self-serving voice: Caesar describes ambushes, bridge-building, sieges, and negotiations in the third person, making political propaganda sound like a practical field report. It can feel repetitive, but the precise logistics and sudden glimpses of fear, confusion, and stubbornness keep it surprisingly alive.
The Four Feathers A. E. W. Mason English
Harry Feversham gets branded a coward before he's done anything, and the book is his slow, secret answer to it, one returned feather at a time. It's earnest Edwardian adventure with a surprisingly tender heart, especially around Durrance, and it rewards a patient reader.
