Le Morte d’Arthur Thomas Malory English
Fair warning, it's a slow, strange ride, knights jousting on repeat in old prose that takes some settling into. But if you let it work on you, Lancelot's divided heart and the whole doomed slide toward Camlann land with a sadness modern retellings rarely earn.
The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano Olaudah Equiano saggistica English
You get a real voice from 1789, wry and observant, telling you what the hold of a slave ship actually felt like to a kidnapped child, then years at sea saving coin by coin to buy himself free. The manumission scene alone earns the read.
