- Pan Michael EnglishYou get a wonderfully odd mix of swordplay, rough comedy, and genuine sadness, with the sly old Zagłoba stealing scenes while Pan Michał’s quiet skill and decency carry the story. It takes its time and wears its patriotic 17th-century Polish outlook openly, but the siege scenes and friendships give the book real weight.
