Ralestone Luck Andre Norton English
If you want a lazy-afternoon adventure, this delivers: three broke siblings move into their crumbling Louisiana plantation and hunt for a lost family sword, with swamps, hidden passages, and a rival claimant thrown in. It's early Norton, pulpy and dated in spots, but cheerfully so.
The Shaving of Shagpat George Meredith English
If you like the Arabian Nights but wish someone had turned the ornament up to eleven and winked while doing it, you'll enjoy following Shibli Bagarag, a barber on a mock-epic quest to shave one enchanted head. The dense, curlicued prose is the whole point, so skip it if you want plain storytelling.
