Gitanjali Rabindranath Tagore English
These are short prose poems Tagore wrote as offerings to God, and they read like someone talking quietly to a friend, about waiting, boats, rain, flute music. Best taken one or two at a time before bed; if you rush it, the stillness that makes it work disappears.
The Child of the Cavern Jules Verne, tradotto da Vincent Parke and Company English
You’re here for Jules Verne’s fascination with machinery, mines, and whole communities hidden underground, with engineer James Starr and the mysterious Nell giving the adventure some human warmth. The suspense is old-fashioned and occasionally creaky, but the coal-lit setting stays wonderfully strange.
