Fair warning, this is early Weinbaum, closer to pulp romance-with-a-shadow than his Martian stuff. Still, watching Pat Lane keep loving Nick Devine while something colder keeps surfacing behind his eyes has a queasy pull, and Dr. Horker's armchair psychoanalysis is a fun period piece.
