- Freckles EnglishYou might enjoy Freckles for its earnest, slightly old-fashioned heart: Freckles, a one-handed Irish orphan guarding the Limberlost, finds dignity in the work and solace in the swamp’s birds, trees, and secret places. It’s sentimental and sometimes preachy, but the natural writing feels genuinely observed.
