Jo’s Boys Louisa May Alcott
You return to Plumfield as Nat, Dan, Emil, and the others stumble into adulthood, while Jo’s warm, meddling care remains the book’s center. It’s episodic and openly moralizing, sometimes sentimental, but its affection for these unruly boys makes the uneven journey feel personal.
The Merchant of Venice William Shakespeare
The comedy bits are light (Portia testing suitors with riddle caskets), but Shylock's "hath not a Jew eyes" speech will sit with you for days. It's uncomfortable, deliberately or not, and that tension is exactly why it's worth arguing about afterward.
