support
Tale is a reader for public domain books. Each book is one long page, readable without an account, and about half of them can also be listened to. It runs on the web at tale.fyi and as an app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
getting help
Write to support@tale.fyi. A person reads every message and replies, usually within a few days. Include the book title and what device you were using if the question is about something on a page.
common questions
Where is my place in the book? Tale keeps your reading position on the device you read on. Reopen the book and you land where you left off. Sign in to carry your place across devices.
How do I listen? Books with a recording show a play button next to their title in the index and in the corner of the page. Press it and the narration starts from your place, with the text highlighted as it plays. Books without a play button have no recording.
Can I read offline? Yes. On the web, add tale.fyi to your home screen and open a book once; the apps keep opened books on the device. Recordings can be downloaded per book.
Something in a book looks wrong. Tell us which book and where, and we will fix it or pass it upstream to the edition's source.
Is a book missing? You can request one. Tale only carries works in the public domain in the United States.
accounts and data
You never need an account to read or listen. If you make one, you can delete it from inside the app or by writing to support. The privacy policy explains what Tale stores and why.
